I haven't noticed anything of the sort, ever. Are you sure there isn't any other cause for your video problems?

I do not have a detailed knowledge of the working of Nexus, but the way I see it the routines it uses are from the Windows GUI and apart the neat tricks they make, are basic commons windows with a bit more complex behavior. It should not affect full-screen display from any source, and this suggests to me other sources. The video player and its codecs. If you're using a browser, display plugins particularly Flash. Incompatible screen modes with what you are trying to watch. The works.

Remove Nexus. Make sure you only have problems when it is present. Try a different player or browser. Make sure it is not some sort of outdated software conflict.

Let us know how more extensive diagnostics turn out. Thank you.

Firstly, I have to say that the only person who can really help you is the creator, Jorge. Only he knows the inner workings of Nexus.
Having said that, the only thing I can imagine is that your Nexus settings with regards to the Z-axis are somehow interfering with full-screen programmes. Perhaps you've checked the "always keep above other windows" or the "prevent maximised windows from overlapping the dock", and that is causing the problems?
Again, I too have the same settings enabled and I've never had any problems with neither MPC nor Windows Media Centre (TV tuner).
Seeing that you're still using Windows XP, I would suggest, if you haven't done it already, downloading the latest drivers for your graphics card as well as the latest version of MPC and the relevant codec pack; finally, make sure your system has received all the Windows updates. However, that doesn't mean that it will *definitely* solve your problem. I'm just trying to cover all bases here.

Nexus hasn't received any updates for more than a year, which means that it's not some new piece of code that's causing it, and also that you're the first person who's reported any such problem. As such, you will understand that it's most probable that the problem you're experiencing has to do with your computer and is not affecting anyone else.

Of course, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't (or won't) help you and try to get to the bottom of this. :)

since you're not having the problem in win 7 i'm apt to think a recent update for xp. regardless of microsours claims they are still pushing new updates for xp. one more thing you can try is mpc-be. this is my video player of choice.

Lioric, can we consider that this is somehow related to XP and is not a Nexus problem? Notice that the glass blur introduced in Vista forces different screen modes from the one used by XP. A old program I have, released prior to Vista messes up completely my desktop items and makes them appear spottily on the screen until the program stabilizes. I has nothing to do with the desktop items themselves, it is just that the glass blur confuses the output of the program in the graphics card.

One last suggestion, try running everything without the glass blur (say Nexus is compatibility mode). See if the problem persists.

Let us know whatever results. They will be useful for future users that may report similar problems. Thank you.

Well i fixed the problem

It was really fishy

I had one dock on the left side and if move the dock to the top of the left comer this happens
When my dock began to fill up the dock expanded to the top so it occurred

I changed the dock a bit lower and the problem solved

It makes no sense i know

Consider that when you go into full screen mode the graphic card "is taken over" by the output of a single program. Would you have a hotspot top left (I am not sure if Nexus has them)? Of course some commands force full screen exit and a hot spot might do that (consider it would introduce an extraneous command). But it wouldn't freeze the display in black.

It might be simply a XP bug, considering you don't have that problem with Windows 7.

Well, it's a good thing you solved it. Now, as to why exactly that happens, like I said, only Jorge can give us a solid explanation.
My guess would be that, since the dock sometimes uses negative pixel coordinates to position itself on the screen (depending on the theme used and whether the dock hides or not), going to the top-left would produce negative coordinates on the Y axis as well as the X. So, *maybe* the full-screen programmes detect that there's some other window (i.e. Nexus) which resides in negative space and interpret that as another monitor or something.
Windows 7, if I remember correctly, use a different system for multiple displays and/or hidden windows.

But maybe I can ask Jorge and get back to you on that one... ;)
