I like Nexus better than all the other dock programs, but just for one thing...
i found a few times, the icon quality is not as good as Objectdock or Rocket Dock & a couple of other ones i tried.
Some icons look blurry in Nexus using the icon from a programs exe file, but using the same icon in other dock programs they look great.Objectdock is the best looking.
I really wish/hope in future updates Winstep would increase the quality that the icons can be(Crisper, cleaner edges).

Could you please get a few example screenshots and post them here?

I can confirm this.
I checked CursorFX and using RWIconEditor I found it contains icons of various sizes.
Winstep is using the one with lower resolution (my guess is 48 x48 pixels) instead of the one with highest resolution (256 x 256 pixels).

Well, in all fairness, I have observed a strange behaviour with the icons in the past. I can't remember off the top of my head, but it's in the "beta" room.
My problem was that Winstep was using small icon sizes, when the defined .ico or .icl files had icon sizes closer to the defined.
Basically, it depends on the icon size you have set in the dock/shelf preferences. It also depends on the icon sizes that the .exe has included in its resources.
Again, my settings were for 80 pixel icons; instead of using the 80x80 bitmap that was available in the .ico specified, Winstep was using the 48x48 bitmap and enlarged it -- thereby looking horrible.
After some tests, I noticed that there are limits for what icon bitmap gets used. For instance, icon size between 49 and 128 will use the 64x64 bitmap, even though there are 48x48, 64x64, 96x96 and 128x128 bitmaps in the icon file.
Also, I've noticed differences in which icon gets used, depending on whether you're running 64bit or 32bit Windows. Somehow, 32bit Windows seemed to use more icons. Also I saw differences even between using icons from an .ico file to icons from .icl, .dll or .exe files. The .ico files get treated better -- as in, more icon sizes are actually used by Winstep -- where .icl or .exe icon resources don't behave as well.

Jorge had given me a short explanation, but I believe you can safely treat this as a bug.
However, if you extract the icon from the .exe, save it as .ico and use it on the dock object, you will hopefully see a better icon. Or just google the name of the programme and find a PNG file with the icon image and use that on the dock.
Work-around... but... what can you do.

Yea,that is what i'm doing...searching a png version of the icon.I'm on Windows 7 32-bit.It just seems to me that in Objectdock the icons look slightly more crisper. That is not enough for me to leave Winstep.I think Winstep overall is a much better product.I wish that the memory usage was a little lower though.

Well, the icon problem has frustrated me for some time, mainly because I also use "Hard Disk Sentinel" and I'm using its facility to display drive usage in the icon -- actually, I created an icon "producer" programme and suggested the custom icon specification to the programmer -- so the icons are ultra-custom in my "My Computer" shelf tab. Initially, I had the shelf set to 80px icon size, but changed it to 129 because of the horrible icon quality.

About memory usage, it greatly depends on your configuration. I've got two docks, three subdocks and three shelf tabs (Winstep, not Nexus) and quite a few animated PNG icons, and the total memory usage is 40MB which isn't that terrible. Obviously, you might have different settings, more docks, more and bigger animated icons etc.
My point is, you have control of how much or how little eye-candy you want. Everything has its price in memory and/or CPU usage. You just have to find the balance that suits you.

i'd say half the time the memory usage is 35-38.I only have 2 docks & no animated icons.I have the rest of the extra functions turned off.Right now it's at 28.Just clicked a couple of icons on the dock & it shot up to 39.It doesn't slow down my system,so i'm not freaking about it.It would be nice to see it a little lower though.I have 2 GB memory which is the most this machine can handle.
