Let's check them one by one:

Code:
METAR source URL: http://weather.noaa.gov/mgetmetar.php?cccc=%1
METAR search string: <P>The observation is:</P>
Weather.com XML source URL: http://xml.weather.com/weather/local/%1?cc&dayf=%2&link=xoap&prod=xoap&unit=%3&par=%4&key=%5
MSN source URL: http://weather.msn.com/RSS.aspx?wealocations=wc:%1&weadegreetype=%2
Google source URL: http://www.google.com/ig/api?weather=%1&hl=%2

Now, I'm just including everything for completeness' sake, even though mine too only connects through MSN and NOAA.
Note that I checked Weather.com also and can't find any problem to the string that is being currently used, still I don't know why it doesn't get the weather data from there. Maybe some precedence thing Jorge put in...

Anyway, you can check that your strings are in order as well.
You can also use them on your favourite browser, to check if the connection is working, or if it's just Winstep that cannot connect (obviously replacing the %1, %2, %3 etc. strings with your particular details).

Okay, here we go. When I hover mine shows it's MSN.

I have the same advanced settings, but when it trys to connect it says:

"Sorry, connection to Weather Service failed!
Reason: Connection to Weather Server failed!
Please try again later..."

Obviously I have an internet access or I wouldn't be here now. I've even tried disabling my firewall.

Don't know if you saw the other thread with the workaround I posted, but for now that seems to be the only viable thing to get us out of the hole for varying lengths of time. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9154

You're not going to believe this! While writing this I happened to look up and saw that the weather module crashed again! This is insane!

Update. PC has been off since my last post and just turned it on. When I booted into Windows, the module began working again! I then noticed I had several Windows updates and installed them.

When the computer rebooted after the install process, the module stopped working again. I decided to exit Xtreme (right-click Nexus icon > Exit > Exit Xtreme) and then open it again.

Now it's working again. :D

I have a feeling that this is not directly related to Winstep itself, but rather with the internet connection or settings.
I have no way of knowing what the exact problem it is that Winstep is experiencing, but I suspect there's some error in fetching the appropriate data or even transmitting the relevant data over the internet.
In any case, I'll tell Jorge and see what he thinks about it.

Any news from Jorge? It happened again. I just used the workaround that I posted to get it going after a few days.

BTW, this time, the location I changed to also wasn't working until earlier today.

No, no news from Jorge.
However, it is helpful to see if it's an issue with Winstep or your internet connection in general.
For instance, you can use the URLs from the advanced configuration of the weather module (like the ones I posted earlier) and input it in a browser, substituting the parameters (%1, %2, etc) with your location codes and see if the data is being delivered to your computer or if you get an error code or even a timeout.

Weather.com feed has been moved permanently to another URL, which is why the Weather Module is now getting weather info from MSN.

To go back to the Weather.com feed, all you need to do is open the Weather Module Settings panel, click the Advanced buttton, and change the 'Weather.com XML Source URL:' to

Code:
http://wxdata.weather.com/wxdata/weather/local/%1?cc&dayf=%2&link=xoap&prod=xoap&unit=%3&par=%4&key=%5

I tried that with firewall turned off. Still no connection.

The nVidia/Intel combo issue that prevented Winstep software from connecting to the Internet was fixed in 2012. If the software can't connect then it is something specific to your system, sorry.

Could be any of the things Skagon mentioned.

Jorge, it's great to have you interacting on the forum! :D I changed the URL as instructed and will see if that corrects the issue with the module crashing. Hope to have you back running on all cylinders again. We all miss you here!

Jorge, it's been more than two weeks since your recommendation to change the Weather.com URL in the module to
Code:
http://wxdata.weather.com/wxdata/weather/local/%1?cc&dayf=%2&link=xoap&prod=xoap&unit=%3&par=%4&key=%5

I'm glad to report that as of today the weather module has worked flawlessly! :D
