I right click on the icon. Go to dock properties, change Icon. I get a location box with a browse button. Nothing happens.

There is a TON of info I need missing from that.

You're trying to change the icon of what item in the dock?

Also, 'Dock Properties'? Or 'Dock Entry Properties'?

Nothing happens when? When you press the Browse button? When you open the 'location box' as you call it? When you specify a new icon?

Look, when trying to describe an issue you need to be as detailed as possible. I'm not there seeing what you are. :D

I am not at my computer now. I have an online business where I have several web sites I go to. I click on add new item. Then in the URL box I paste the address of the site. Now I have a question mark icon. I right click on that. I can't remember if it says dock properties, or dock entry properties. I then get a dialog box, and a change icon button. There is a search box with a browse button. I then click on the browse button, but it does not browse. Nothing happens.

Also I tried dragging the bookmark down on the shelf, but that does not work.

Ok, when you get back to the computer I'm going to need a screenshot of the Item Properties dialog after you've pasted that URL, please.

Anyway, the Browse button opens the Windows Common File dialog (comdlg32.dll). If it doesn't on your system, you've probably have a problem with that Windows DLL.

Something else you can try is drag & drop a .PNG or .ICO file directly from Explorer *into* the item in the dock (if you are running v16.2 the icon will 'glow' when you are directly over it and can drop the image file) - that's a quickest way to change the image/icon of a dock shortcut.

Well..I think I have it. To add a site link to the dock, you can't just drag it down from the bookmarks, at least I can't. But! if you drag it down and make a desktop shortcut, then I can do it, and change the icon. Now for my mail checker. I can open my mail with the icon, but it does not check my mail. I get a message "have you enabled this feature" I thought I did. Where do I enable it?

Also, there seems to be a limited amount of choices of icons. Are there more, or is there a reliable site I can got to and get more. The ones I have seem generic.

Yes you can. I just tried it here with Firefox and Chrome. I dragged items both from the bookmarks menus as well as from each browser's address bar directly into the dock. No problems changing the icons of those URL dock shortcuts or getting them to open a new browser tab.

What Internet browser are you using?

See? This doesn't make sense to me. Previously you complained nothing happened when you clicked the 'Browse' button, which could only mean something was seriously wrong with comdlg32.dll on your system, thus preventing the opening of the file browse dialog.

And now the Browse button is suddenly working again?

If there is indeed an issue I would like to understand what it is and fix it, please.

So can you still post that screenshot I requested in my previous post? The one showing the Dock Entry Properties dialog for an URL you drag from bookmarks.

Did you configure your email accounts? Did you tell it to check for new messages at an interval other than zero (which disables the function)? What happens if you *right click* the module and select 'Check Email'?

The web is filled to the brim with icon and wallpaper sites, as well as dock backgrounds/themes (remember, Nexus is compatible with backgrounds for all 3rd party docks!). All you need to do is search for them in Google. :)

You can start your search for icons HERE, for instance.

Here is what I did wrong. When I added an icon for the site I wanted, I entered the URL of the site. Browse did not work. So, I just dragged the shortcut to the dock, and it works. It was my error. I am aware there are many sites for Icons. I was just concerned about getting hit with malware and adware. Thanks for your help. I just really need to play with the program, and figure it out.

Here's a tip: when I need a specific icon, I do a search in Google Image.

For instance, I type 'cd icon png' in the Search box. I don't even need to go to the site itself, I can save the image straight from Google Image search.

I thought I configured the email checker. I looked up the numbers for Gmail. On the configuration it asks for POP3 or IMAP. Not sure which one to use. Everything else is great. Love this program.

POP3. And for Gmail you need to enable SSL encryption too.

Anyway, those settings are usually given to you by (and depend on) the email provider you're using. Use the same settings you used when configuring your email client, that's all.

Thanks for your help Jorge. I have Nexus down about 99% and its great. Still working on the mail checker. I just downloaded Gmail. Never asks me to configure it. Do you know how I would find the numbers? Maybe if I check "about" gmail or properties. The mail checker works find, and I can open gmail with it. It just cant connect. I will keep searching.
