I bought the aeroglass from glass8.eu and it works fine on the windows with blur effect enabled (using aero glass configurator, separate free download), but it doesn't have any effect on the docks whereas I'd like to set them to be blurred as well instead of clear. *cries in a corner*

You're running Windows 10, aren't you?

The Aero Glass Blur effect in Winstep applications is disabled by default on Windows 8 and Windows 10. Have you tried enabling it already?

Anyway, even if you did get it to work, I'm not sure you would be happy with the results: from what I saw in my experiences trying to bring back the Aero blur effect in Windows 10 (and I only succeeded in getting a whole rectangular window blurred, not just parts of it) performance was HORRID.

My guess is that Microsoft also removed hardware acceleration or something like that from the blur effect. I do use blur on specific windows if you watch closely (for instance, on balloon tooltips and the LCD-style alarm notification window) but that is only possible because those windows are rectangular.

It was updated. And it works great. I did enable it in Winstep but like I say, it doesn't do anything. It still acts like it would without Aeroglass.

Here are some photos:

Did you try restarting Nexus Ultimate (even tough that should not be necessary)?

If you *properly* enable the Aero Glass effect on a dock with a semi-transparent background on Windows 10 WITHOUT AerogGlass installed, what you get is a white or black *opaque* background where the blurred region would be.

So, if you are not getting that opaque background is either because a) you did not properly enable the Aero Blur function in the Winstep application (more likely) or b) AeroGlass is doing it's job but either the background is not semi-transparent (fully transparent does not count) OR you at some point changed the default Alpha and RGB thresholds for the effect and forgot about it.

Where did you enable the Aero Blur effect in Nexus Ultimate? You should do it globally from the Themes tab in Preferences. Also, what theme are you currently using?

Yeah I did enable it globally from the main themes tab there, not for the individual dock. There are not rgb values to customize for aero glass that are available. All the configurator does is allow you to set registry values that increase or decrease the blur and opacity and a background glass effect if you have a png file to use which I do but I don't enable that.

I did exit and restart Nexus.

Here's another screenshot. With a darker wallpaper in the background, you can see that it looks like it works but it creates that dark opaque colorization and doesn't maintain the otherwise clear look but just with the blur. Unless that is supposed to be the way it is then I suppose but I did not think it would be so dark.

The theme is AeroSky.

Oh and yes, Windows 10.

Gawd, I hate Photobucket lol. I would prefer if you attached/uploaded the pictures directly into the board.

Anyway, Nutrynion, from that screenshot you can see that the blur effect is actually working on the dock. The wallpaper behind the dock is blurred and clearly visible, the dock is not opaque at all.

As for it being so dark, when Windows blurs the background it also applies a tint color. Windows 10 uses a very dark color by default.

This color is called the 'accent color' under Windows 10 - give THIS a read, it might help.

Ah I knew there was a catch. So it is working. Photobucket is all I've ever used, but okay I'll remember this for the future.

Meanwhile, I'll see if adjusting that manually makes any difference. If I can lighten it, then it would be perfect.

Well, as I remember, I've come across that before, accessing that hidden ui to adjust the color, problem is, it's not very accurate, and provides no real control at all. Only way to get the affect I like on the docks is to set the intensity value in that color control ui to absolute zero, and it looks just how I want. problem is the rest of the ui in windows title bars is utterly almost transparent and not the color I want, no matter what I set the rest of the sliders to.

One would actually have to mess with reg values but I'm far past it, at this point. I'll just forgo wanting the blur in the docks. Too much a hassle.

p.s.

oh and went to change my avatar on here but it's not active I guess. I know you moved the forums to a new server and all that, so maybe it's yet to be reactivated. But for now, I have no avatar.

Thanks for letting me know. Most probably a folder permissions issue, I'll try to get it fixed ASAP.

Can you please try changing your Avatar image again? I already set the appropriate folder permissions so it should work now. :)

Yup, working. Thanks man. And just testing inserting a picture directly rather than with photobucket. I remember too I had always chosen to use that because then the storage space for the forums I participate in wouldn't get gobbled up by so much. But I don't really post a lot anyway.
