Hmm... Winstep Xtreme really should have no influence on those features. Do the following test: exit both NextSTART and WorkShelf. Now try the function keys. Do they suddenly start working again?

If not, then the problem is not with Winstep Xtreme, but with some laptop-specific applet that should be running but isn't... Let me know.

So I guess your saying there is NO connection between the program (WinStep) and the problem?

Most notebooks have an applet that traps the special Fn keys to translate the additional key (ie brightness up and down / volume up or down, etc.)

I went to Asus to find your specific notebook to look for a possible applet for this but coudln't find yorus because of not enough info.

I'm happy to try to help, but would need exact "Series" and sub model number.

My guess is that if you reinstalled the Fn key control "applet" it would all start working again.

This happens sometimes. Something stops working but you don't realize it until AFTER you've installed some un-related software. Then you - logically - think the software you just installed is to blame.

Don't you have a CD that came with your laptop? Try re-installing the software that came in it. As Cef100 pointed out, this should get your Fn keys working again.

Oh, don't worry, I'll leave it here as a warning for others not to jump the gun, hehe

Anyway, glad you sorted out your problem! :D
