I want to disable the grouped icon menu

I just want a window to show up when I click an icon, that's it.

If you are talking about the NextSTART taskbar
Press CTRL-F12 or right-click the taskbar and choose Preferences. In the Preferences window, switch to the "Taskbar" tab, click "Tasklist Settings" and then change your task "Grouping" settings.

I was talking about Nexus Ultimate.

Your tip works pretty much the same for Nexus Ultimate.
This does indeed work to get rid of the grouped menu, however I would really like to keep the app grouping, I just don't want to see the menu when I click on an icon. It should just open the app for me.

Any ideas how to reach this result?

I have mine grouped and then I hover to let it show me thumbnails of the windows. I then click the thumbnail of the window I want to bring to the front. (This is assuming I don't use Alt-Tab or Windows-Tab to select my window.)

Also, note, I'm using NextSTART's taskbar and don't use the dock as anything except a launcher, so I don't switch windows in the dock. That's just my preference, not a statement of who is doing things right or wrong.

I see. I tried it for a bit, but that setup doesn't really work that well for me. It still adds another click in between launching.
