Under normal conditions (preferences), my WS sits right above the task-bar with a very slight gap in-between the two. Often, when I reboot, the gap becomes much larger. I then need to continue to open new themes (including the original) until a theme positions itself correctly (with only the slight gap). Any ideas as to what might be going on?

John

The problem is that the hidden Windows taskbar is still reserving screeen space, and, since it is an integrant part of the OS, nothing can be done about it. The gap is visible when the NextSTART startbar is smaller in height than the Windows taskbar.

The solution is to temporarily turn off NextSTART task management to access the real Windows taskbar, access its Properties and un-check the 'Keep the Taskbar on top of other Windows' option - or set it to 'Auto-Hide'.

Your suggestion did not solve the problem!!! Maybe because I totally shut down NextStart in order to access the normal Windows taskbar? If that is what you suspect, how does one turn off only the NextStart task management? Thanks.

Yes.......... and this problem is really bugging me because when I reboot, it raises its ugly head (not 100% of the time which makes it even more frustrating). Seems to happen more with Xtreme themes.

Hmmm, maybe you can send me a screenshot of the problem to the Winstep support address? Actually two screenshots would be nice: one with NextSTART running and NextSTART Preferences open on the General Preferences tab, the other with only WorkShelf running...

Yes, I did... I'm still looking into it, but that looks like a reserve screen space 'start up' bug I thought I fixed a long time ago.

OK. I'm also investigating the possibility that a program I use is causing the problem (inconsistently). The program is SYSTrayX - which allows one to organize items in the system tray. I have turned the program off (I could survive without it) & will see what happens over time to the positioning of WS.

Have not observed the problem since I shut down SysTrayX. Granted, I have only rebooted a few times but it looks promising. Will obviously let you know if the problem recurs.
