Would be nice to have at least a toggle-able option for this empty space to be part of dock, so the cursor can pickup icons from that empty space.

Thanks for the GIF and for the suggestion. It would indeed have to be a toggle-able option as currently that feature is used mainly to create space for other screen objects below the dock (assuming it is docked to the bottom screen edge, of course)

Maybe it's just me getting old, but none of that makes any sense here. ;) Reserved screen space is just that - kept empty either for other screen objects or to move docked to edge items a few pixels off edge. Making that setting 'toggle-able' would just lead to confusion, and I certainly don't see the point. :|

It has to do with Fitts's Law.

"Fitts's Law, a predictive model of human movement, states that the time to acquire a target is a function of the target's distance and size, with larger and closer targets being easier and faster to reach"

Since the cursor does not go beyond the screen edge, the edge is basically an infinite sized target (you just "throw" the mouse pointer down with a flick of the wrist and you never miss it eheh), and he can then move the cursor horizontally to find the right icon. I understand the reasoning (and if that's how it works in the Mac, that's the reason too).

Microsoft used to understand that back when they still cared about usability labs, etc...

Yes that's exactly how it works on macOS since Big Sur version from 2013, hence I've suggested that, as someone coming from macos may find it useful.

One question though, always assuming a dock at the bottom of the screen: when you left click, the dock still launches the currently selected icon even if the mouse pointer is outside/below the icon itself (provided it is in the empty space between the dock and the bottom screen edge), right?

Major drawback of this is that mouse clicks, etc, will then not "pass through" to, say, the Windows taskbar or a part of any window that might be visible below the dock. Then again, this is exactly the reason such a setting would NOT be enabled by default - one would have to assume that if the user enables it he knows what he is doing.

No, it triggers desktop context menu.

Hence it'd be nice to make it a choice, disabled by default as you've suggested. I'm using Dock as a taskbar replacement. My workflow is a bit different from default Windows experience - I've put taskbar on top and dock at the bottom - kinda imitating macOS experience.

Do we really want to go down the dirty macOS road? Doesn't make sense to me.

Says the Linux apologist... :D

If it's an optional setting disabled by default that makes users coming from Mac OS more at home, I don't see the problem.

I'm no "Linux apologist" at all - Linux advocate, certainly. After all, a distro like Ubuntu is (or Fedora) is just ace, beats the pants off of anything else. Much more secure, no nasty MS or Apple spying on your data, just very private. :D

If that optional setting doesn't involve much work then fine, but how many macOS users are switching to Windblows? I'd bet not many. More likely to go to Linux. :P

Hi, I've another very simple suggestion - show full right-click context menu by right-clicking on an icon while holding a shift, when show full right-click context menu options is not selected. It's a default Windows behavior too, so it's makes a lto of sense to have that option as well.

Good idea, done.

As I change which monitor my docks are several times a day, I would love to be able to create shortcuts on my desktop or especially on one of my Elgato StreamDecks, to tell Nexus Ultimate to change monitors.

I have done this to quickly change which is the main monitor but that's not a great idea for many of the apps or games I use as they don't like the change in screen coordinates.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Winstep\Nexus-Ultimate.exe" /mon1 or
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Winstep\Nexus-Ultimate.exe" /mon3 for instance would be great.

Is there any chance that could ever be possible or, have I missed the fact that it already is?
