I had 3 grid stacks that just stopped working recently. No errors, everything else works fine but when I click the icons to open the grid stacks nothing happens. If I right click and select grid stack properties nothing happens. If I add a new grid stack it works fine and I can open the properties on the new grid stack but not the old ones. Any ideas what happened or how I can fix this? Just FYI I've tried exiting Nexus and restarting it and I've rebooted my computer several times with no luck.

Open Preferences, go to the Advanced tab, click the Troubleshooting Options button, make a backup of your settings then click 'Check Integrity of Docks and Shelves'.

What does it say? Also, what type were your Grid Stacks (Regular or Folder type) ?

It says problem found: 3 bad stack pointers and asks if I want to correct the problems. When I hit ok the 3 grid stacks disappear and I have to restore to get them back but they still don't work.

These were regular grid stacks, not folders.

Can you please send the settings backup file to the Winstep support address so I can have a look at it? Try to figure out what might have happened and maybe also fix it.

One more question: when did this happen? Does anything come to mind that might have prompted this internal structure corruption?

The backup file has been sent to the support@ email address.

This happened about a week or so ago. I don't recall doing anything out of the ordinary when I noticed the issue. I haven't added anything to any of the grid stacks recently and haven't updated windows recently either. I do/did use the 3 grid stacks daily.

Thank you for looking into this.

Unfortunately I have bad news: the Grid Stacks are not recoverable, neither the actual Grid Stacks nor their contents exist in the backup.

The "pointers" to the Grid Stacks exist in the dock, but the actual Grid Stacks and their contents are gone (except for one that is completely empty).

Unless you have a prior/older backup, you will have to reconstruct them again from scratch after resolving the integrity problems via the Troubleshooting Options dialog, sorry.

No idea what might have caused this either as the backup gave me no clues, which is a shame as this is precisely the type of thing that should NEVER happen.

Once you reconstruct your Grid Stacks, don't forget to make a backup of your settings, one with a distinctive name. If this ever happens again, please let me know ASAP.

Thank you for trying. I appreciate it. I will remake the grid stacks and backup them up. If this happens again I will let you know.
