And a "light mode" version too... What say you guys about the desktop version of the disk meter? Yay, nay, meh?

Wow - That's quite fantastic :) Thanks for sharing your development stages Jorge.

I think it needs to be there. Taking nothing away from the Nexus module, anyone can already create a Workshelf Drive TAB if they do not want either.

The popup information is good on mouse-over. It dos not really matter in the scheme of things whether it is there or not, but if you have all of the information available with a simple mouse-over, then that's a good thing with a desktop module. You'd only need Used, available, temperature and total size if you are only choosing four.

If you are still suggesting that you do not want to feel you are competing with AIDA64, then perhaps a desktop module is unnecessary? Is that what you might be thinking? Not everyone has it Jorge.

And last but not least the vertical versions (black & white) of the desktop module:

And the final version of the Disk Meter settings dialog.

You might notice that the Hue slider disappeared. That's because the module is actually colorized the same way all the others are, via the Modules tab in Preferences.

Likewise, the "Rows" setting was also removed. Too much work for very little reward, so I cut it.

As for the desktop modules, you cam always revisit them in the next BETA :)

So, did any of you guys come up with color variations for the ring and drive styles that look really, really, great (I know that is subjective, but...) ?

Ok, Browse Icons for the Disk Meter module now also allows you to specify a Ring Chart replacement, names of presets have been limited to 30 characters, the drop down preset list expands to fit the largest entry in it, the dark/light theme can be set from the module's right click context menu (and you can also rotate it from there too) and the desktop module can also be forced to display as icons, i.e.; like this:

(Yes, that is the actual desktop module forced to iconic mode, everything is moved as one unit). As it's bigger sibling, it can be displayed horizontally or vertically.

A couple more things: we can't change the information displayed in the desktop disk meter module, but I think below temperature instead of Life Remaining, which is not very useful, we should probably have the disk type (e.g. SSD (USB))

And at the top, we have Used KB/Total Capacity KB, perhaps instead of %used below it we should have %free?

Finally, this module is a colorizationist wet dream. :D

New beta coming soon...

Yes but only speaking for myself, I was kinda hoping that could be left to theme editing/skinning.

As for default colours?
Most drives in real life are grey, silver and black with the circuit boards being dark green. There's a start. I know that's possibly not helpful, but I am context person. So anything more is too ambiguous.

Ah-ah, remember these baby blue guys? Always had a soft spot for them, although I also like the current dark blue/orange combination.

Well, turns out in this case you can actually keep your cake and eat it too:

A style like the Ring Chart requires using two separate bitmaps, one for the background and another for the foreground, which are then overlapped on top of each other.

The problem with the user customized icons (when you click "Change Icon" for a module) is that you only have two options, one for each style.

However, it occurred to me that there is actually no reason why this HAS to be that way. So, the Disk Meter module actually has three options: first for the Drive style, and the second and third for the background and foreground bitmaps of the Ring Chart style, respectively.

This in turn allows me to "recreate" the old baby blue alternative by providing their two original bitmaps via the Change Icon method. I think I'll ship those two alternative ring chart bitmaps together with the rest of the Winstep icon samples...

Anyway, besides this, currently tying lose ends before the next beta.
