Not necessarily, although anything that uses resources adds up to the burden, of course.

That is also why "Enable smooth text scrolling" is one of the settings in the very much never remembered Advanced Performance Settings dialog (Preferences -> Advanced tab -> Performance Settings -> Advanced). Clear that setting and ticker text scrolls character by character instead of pixel by pixel, which greatly reduces CPU usage of the feature.

The actual problem is that I would have to re-do the whole ticker system from scratch to make it work with the multiple sections/drives of the disk meter module and I really don't feel like doing that at this point.

I'm sure it'll keep a good long while - don't think users are going to miss it, just perhaps a couple of skinners... ;)

Thanks for the response.
yes, that makes perfect sense. A lot of messing around for only one thing that would very rarely be used or needed.

For the greater part, most people do not want to see the model number, model serial, and already know their file system anyway, so abbreviations like
FS: and M# suffice. I have only done it on one anyway. You wanted testing so I tested every setting.

The only time I could think of where scrolling would be useful is if the Read and Write stay in bytes and did not shift to MB or GB, because the numbers would be ridiculously long. I would be concerned if it was perpetually putting those numbers out anyway  Otherwise agreed.

Disk drive and ring icons (Only these) uploaded to Gallery for 41 themes for those who only want the icons and not the themes.

Done in separate folders with correct naming conventions, so all anyone has to do after unzipping them, is copy the three files into the theme directory they want to display them.

For NEXUS only users who decide they'd like a Global change:

Right mouse on the disk icon - Dock Entry Properties / Change icon.
Cheers

Nicely done, but it should have been uploaded to the Icons section of the Gallery, not the Themes section, no? :P

I am claiming a senior moment and I will move them (Facepalm)

Moved :)

P.S. I am working on a theme based on your Disk Core.
I am taking my time because it is so beautifully clean, I won't be happy with anything that is not up to par. I meant to say you did a great job with it.

After quite a lot of time on this, I still believe that if a user right-clicks a module and selects:
Desktop Modules/Save Module Positions - I am of the opinion it should save whether they chose Vertical or Horizontal as part of that. I know it is annoying to ask again, but it has become noticeable. Most users if they save want it to return the way it was after saving. That is a true observation.

I'm not a native English speaker but even I know the difference between "Position" and "Orientation". :P

But yes, I see your point, the orientation of the disk meter module should be saved as well... didn't occur to me because none of the other modules have this property. Thanks for pointing it out. :D

No problem.:)

It's not wrong what you put - It simply might end up being misinterpreted.
I am deep into it so I am used to it. So when someone who only randomly changes things, once every few days or once per week and notices it, I figured, it was a valid observation. ;)

In English 'Position' more often points to coordinates or is more specific, whereas 'location' has as its minimum prerequisite, only has a need to point to a general area, for example 'North by Northwest'.

It would be possible to have vertical multi that represents Temperature - yes?

That would be very useful because it could be color coded something like... Green 0-38C -yellow 39-50C -orange 51-68C -red 69-100C. Seeing a meter in orange or red tends to make people pay attention.

Just a thought :)

Red *always* grabs the attention (unless you're red/green colourblind) so certainly useful for metering modules like UPS/Battery, RAM, and yes, temperature. Although, I'd think that any drive - or for that matter, the system it resides on if applicable - would be completely fried at 100 degrees C.

While the idea has legs to walk, no, sorry, and for multiple reasons, some technical others not; like the temperature not being available for some drives + if I added this for the Disk Meter why not for the Battery module too (and again not all Batteries report temperature or you can get it from them, etc).

Too late in the game anyway.

And the orientation of the desktop disk meter is now being saved (and retrieved) when you switch to a different theme.

That makes good sense, but in a positive light, it's never too late unless you are in the ground

Clever, courteous man. Thank you.

@Jorge I do not want to be a total pain in the ass/arse - But it probably would not hurt that in your adding of saving orientation, that you consider the user's choice of a disk drive or torus drive in that process too? Makes sense to me anyway :)

Hello Jorge,
After testing everything, I noticed that WsDiskOverlay doesn't behave like WsDisk and WsDiskV. It remains fixed and doesn't adjust its scaling based on whether one or more disks are displayed.

In my opinion, it would be wise to also create a WsDiskSectionOverlay and a WsDiskSectionOverlayV for greater convenience and to prevent the center of the gauge from shifting significantly when it moves to the right, regardless of its settings.
The disk module must adapt to all types of themes and cannot always present a pre-defined shape.

For example, I created the WsDisk module for the "Office" theme for testing purposes, and you can see that on disk F, the center of the gauge shifts to the right by a few pixels and doesn't maintain the correct alignment of the gauges to the left.

I deduce that with a WsDiskSectionOverlay and V, the module would have a cleaner, more polished look. The more useful parameters there are, the easier the skinner's job is. Ultimately, this is just my personal opinion; the decision is yours.
Cordially...
