I've promised Jorge a new theme for a while now. I figure if I post my progress here it will force me to get my act together. I've been working on this a bit lately. The theme started out blue, but I felt like making the whole thing grey :)

The wallpaper is something I quickly threw together. I use a different wallpaper, but I haven't received permission to release it yet. I'm also not sure if it would help the theme's popularity (not that I generally care about such things).

Anyhow, the modules not seen in this image need to be skinned and the menu hasn't been done yet. I'll post progress here when I make some :)

Jason, very nice!

The wallpaper is actually a very important part of any theme. I've seen a couple of themes that became extremely popular mostly because the wallpaper had a tremendous impact (and no, I'm not mentioning names, hehe), since the theme itself was average!

Just a quick reminder, in case you might want to use this feature: like the CPU module, the RAM module is also able to display the Top x RAM hogs.

I agree with the importance of the wallpaper. The wallpaper I'm using has three pictures of John 5 in it. I think it looks cool. I like John 5 obviously. My wife asks who is the weird looking guy on my desktop ;)

I have approached the John 5 web site regarding the wallpaper I created to see if I could use it (I don't own the photos obviously). The wallpaper I've used in the screenshot above though I did create myself and there shouldn't be a problem with using it. I think it might also make the theme more user friendly to non John 5 fans.

You can see who John 5 is on his photo page at http://www.john-5.com/photos.html to see what I'm talking about.

In regards to the new features of the CPU and RAM modules, I'll make them include as much as possible. Be prepared for "How do I...?" questions :)

You agree with my wife :)

John 5 is possibly the most talented guitarist I've ever heard though. Anyhow... I'll make a few changes to the wallpaper in this screenshot and then get cracking on the other modules.

Then it's on to my next theme as I have an idea for a different style. Yay! I have the skinning bug again :)

Some more modules. Am I missing anything important in any of these?

You can test it for me then if you like. I'd like to get suggestions or notification if I've missed something out. You can grab it here. New screenshot of completed (I hope) theme below :)

Quick question for Jorge ? Does it help you if themes are uploaded to WinCustomize? Let me know if it makes a difference at all otherwise I'll just put this on my site (lazy). ;)

Very nice! One question: Should the "glass effect" be on WS like it is on Nexus? Thanks.

If you're asking if I should consider making the background transparent behind the icons of the shelf then I'm not sure. I thought that might be a transparent overkill as the shelf covers a lot more real estate. I'll make a quick alternate version and check it out :)

Edit: I've made an alternate version. Let me know what you think.

Edit 2: Sorry about the edits :) If you've already downloaded the alternate, download it again. I made a couple of other changes. The alternate version now has the glass background in the NextSTART menu, WorkShelf and Nexus. When I release the original version it will have the solid background in those three areas. I'll upload a screenshot of the original version to WinCustomize now.

Screenshot of the theme I'll release is at WinCustomize. If there are no problems or bugs to report I'll upload it in a day or so.

I've noticed that when Xtreme starts up with my PC the wallpaper does not load. But if I go to apply the theme from the settings then the wallpaper does load. Is this a theme problem I can't figure out or a setting I have missed in Xtreme itself?

Am I the only person this happens too?

Are you running Vista, Jason?

When the wallpaper is a JPG bitmap (most theme wallpapers are, I guess) Xtreme converts it to BMP and saves it in the Windows folder. If you don't have write permission to the Windows folder, Vista stores the wallpaper in a VirtualStore folder (that's why it works first time) but is unable to 'find it' again on startup or when you go to Display Properties.

I didn't notice this problem because I had changed the default access permissions to the Windows folder in the Vista installation that got blown away when the P4C800 motherboard died. Anyway, fixed for the next release, since Vista natively supports JPG wallpapers.

Nope. Still on XP.

My wallpaper is a BMP file. Should I try a JPG? I'll give that a go when I get home. I wonder if it has anything to do with WindowBlinds? Normally WindowBlinds loads first and sets the wallpaper. Then Xtreme loads and the wallpaper doesn't change to what I expect. I might try different themes to see if the same thing happens. When I get home :)
