Can the weather module pick up data from anywhere other than the Weather Channel?
Weather Channel seems to have deeply strange ideas about UK weather!

Thanks
Steve

Currently, the module is telling me it's fine today and the next 4 days are wet. BBC weather is saying ok today then fine - fine - wet - fine!
BBC forecast is not perfect, but comparing the 2 over the last 6 months suggests it is much more reliable than Weather Channel!
I also get wierd icons sometimes saying 'Dust' - it's never dusty here (it's too wet!!)

Weather can vary a lot in the UK over a fairly small geographical area and I suspect that some of the US based forecasters don't take this into account whereas people like the BBC or the UK Met Office do.

What's your city name and what are your METAR and Weather.com codes?

How do you find out a METAR code?

Location: Baldwin Park, CA
You probably don't have a METAR code for your city but you could
try the closest nearby and see how accurate it is for your city.
How close is Staverton Private to you?

Check out this page and see if anything is useful:

http://weather.gladstonefamily.net/site/EGBJ

There's a Neighboring Stations list of places near the above location.

If the above reference is way off you'll have to excuse me. I live
in California, U.S.A. :-)

My city, Baldwin Park (in Los Angeles county) doesn't have a METAR code
but is listed in the weather module's setup. The weather seems accurate
enough but if I think it isn't I'll use the city next door which does have
a METAR code.

The weather module uses two very different methods to get weather data: the first is based on METAR, which gives you the current weather information provided by the airport nearest to you, the second is based on Weather.com's data.

METAR does not provide weather forecast information, only current weather conditions - and the number of METAR locations is vastly inferior to the number of Weather.com locations.

WorkShelf mixes the two methods, providing current weather information based on METAR whenever that is available for the chosen location, or by weather.com otherwise. The forecast is ALWAYS provided by weather.com.

Thanks Marc and Jorge. I've put EGBJ in the Metar code box and we'll see how it goes. Staverton is about 8 miles away.

One question. When I return to the Weather Module Settings screen, the Metar code box is always blank. However double-clicking the weather icon goes to the EGBJ page so it has obviously remembered it.
I presumt I should have both the Metar and the Weather.com code boxes filled in??

Ah, a possible UI bug. I'll check it out ASAP.
