Unfortunately, for me, this is a very difficult path. :cry:

I found a really quick and easy update method but I am saying now that I decided to take the long path.

Simply put, I found that I could select only the files that I changed / updated within the theme folder, zipped them and converted to xtreme files. Does it work? Yes, and I worked out I could put around 40 of those extreme update files into one zip file because each was around 4k in size.

Why I decided not to? Too confusing for anyone who was new to Winstep and the remote possibility of creating what I might call a "Dead theme" was evident if the person did not have the full theme installed and at least a directory at the minimum.
So... sorry, no quick fixes with version 26.9. The updates will be gradual.

I respect your decision. If you change your mind, I am happy to assist in any way I can as I know Jorge will as the most knowledgeable of us all (by far).

Short 'n sweet. My companion asked me what the change was in the menu I was happy about.
A picture tells the story. Here's a before and after, dragging the submenu for anyone else unsure.
Cheers

A note for anyone who has downloaded ANY theme of mine.

I made an honest error though not knowing the exact purpose of some bitmaps.
Without boring details - I am in the process of copying the theme icons for each missing theme icon on the Nexus bar to replace any blank icons you may have experienced so that each trash/recycle icon and email icons match the theme you are using.
I will be gradually re-uploading over the coming five or so days.

@JORGE - I'd like to make a suggestion that while you are making the manual for your theme builder, PLEASE include a "What not to do". I do not mind owning my mistakes but I am sure there are probably a few others everyone, including myself are not aware of that may be less obvious. Thanks in advance.

LOL

What not to do? Do not shoot yourself in the foot. It hurts and may hinder the way you walk.

Do not let your food burn. It doesn't taste as good and is harder to digest.

Should I go on? :D :P

By all means, I am sure you can find something funnier. :lol: :lol:

This leads to an interesting creative possibility from my mistake perhaps??

I have fixed the Vista Xtreme theme already. It took about 3 minutes as you can see. The red lines I have a question.

Do these icons have a bitmap I can put in the theme with a specific name to replace these as well, so I can create ones that appear in Workshelf and Nexus that match a theme? I honestly do not know because they do not appear generally in a theme other than clock (WsClockA), email and recycle. If they can be replaced, it means I can be more creative and add theme-centric across-the-board icons.
If so, would you kindly email me the correct extensions please?

I know it sounds pathetically optimistic, but I've always believed for everything that doesn't turn out as expected, something good always comes from it. I've met too many good people as a direct result of some bad choices I made to say otherwise.

EDIT: Some people only have the icons in workshelf and Nexus and very little on their desktop. It would be nice if someone doing this who liked the basic concept of a theme I created to have the icons match the theme.

@JORGE

It's OK I worked out how to do it and probably the best way at that.
I will include alternative replacement icons in the theme for Nexus and Workshelf in a separate folder inside the theme and make note in the theme information. So if the user wants theme-centric icons they can, and if they do not and are content with defaults they can.
It works, so something good did come out of it. It only requires two a graph and a gauge. Shouldn't take too long in each, exponentially with many, sure, but individually, no. I could do the battery, and Wanda, Cal etc per theme but I'll see how long the rest take to fix ES & FS files first.

Respected BassdudeNZ! I'm really sorry for what happened! You'll have to redo your work because of me.

No I do not have to redo it and you are not responsible for it, I am :)
I only have to add a couple of things which are truly necessary PPETROFF60.

I am grateful this happened, because if you did not say anything and draw attention to it, then I would have chugged along and I may not have noticed, so thank you. :)

Also with the new icon additions I will be adding here and there, which I was not doing which will be in an icons folder, keep in mind that when you select "change icon" - in the preferences it is a global change. You only have to click 'default' to go back to the original at any time. I may put them all into the icons section of the gallery, I have not decided yet.

Thanks again for drawing my attention to it.

@PPETROFF60

I have done the minor edits for the Winstep Vista Xtreme theme and also added a histogram/graph and gauge icon in a separate folder if you wish to replace the icons in the main / Nexus / Workshelf. As you can see on the Nexus bar, you won't have the isssue of it not displaying anymore. I will upload it in the coming 24hrs. It also has the update configuration line for 26.9 even though this theme does not need it. I have made it common practice that they all have it inserted now, so I have many uploads to do - This is not you, this was a my own choice. :)

NOTE: Replacing those icons via Preferences is Global, not per-theme, so they will transfer to every theme. This is useful only if you have no intention of changing themes on a daily basis and intend to have the theme displayed for a while.

Regards

@JORGE

Further to Wincustomize email discussion - Would you send me a permission text thingy for revamped/Modernized variants of JcRabbit/Winstep themes you gave permission to me for. From memory, Wincustomize needs some kind of permission file because the above is probably a good one to put up in the first few.
They are finnicky about that from memory. Without they tend to stop it from being uploaded, or they used to, and if they do that I cannot be bothered mucking around and will probably cease uploading anything there, due to not wanting to fart around with something I already know was permitted. This was pretty much why I never went back last time.
I cannot be bothered fucking around when the onus would be on me anyway.

I have updated six themes which I will put into the Gallery tonight (Here) so roughly within the next 10hrs. All email and trash icons now appear in Nexus and Workshelf (MAIN).

As Follows:
Winstep Vista Xtreme
Balls
Icons Only (Original - rest not done yet)
Lapis Lazuli
Locomotive Breath
Scenery

I also have redone the main parent menu slightly in Locomotive breath for v 26.9 and added new workshelf buttons.(screenshot)

these for the first time in (seven?) years will also be put to Wincustomize for a start.

In the Winstep Vista Xtreme theme, I will add "Permission granted by Jorge Coelho / JcRabbit" - If in doubt ask him.
If they do not accept that, then they will be last I upload to Wincustomize.
