I want the Workshelf tabs (visible when minimized) to be about half the size it is now (I am using the Aero LowRes theme for the Shelf).

I have played with the tab header font size, but that did not work. I tried messing with the Advanced settings on the Shelf Appearance settings, but did not get what I was looking for. I played with the top settings for pixel height of the tab, which did make them smaller, but something was not right. My text was no longer centered, and the tabs kinda moved down....

Any good recommendations for making the tabs smaller, but not look "goofy"?

You're getting into the skinning realm, and that has a steep learning curve if you haven't skinned other applications before.

Actual tab height for the Aero LowRes theme is defined by the height of the tab bitmaps - just changing the settings won't be enough, you will have to change the height of the wsFullTabA.png, WsFullTabI.png, wsFullTabML.png and wsFullTabMR.png bitmaps.

Then you will also have to change the font size and the vertical Label offsets for the Active and Inactive Tabs.

You will also need to remember to save the Theme in the Theme Manager tab in Preferences once you're satisfied with the results, otherwise your new settings will be lost when you switch to another theme.
