Once again, my enthusiasm for using winstep has caused me to post into the wrong topic so i will repost the question......
If i create a hotspot that starts the windows start menu, and associate it with the start button instead of the default hotspot 0, how can i make the win start menu always appear to the left edge of the screen and at the top of the themes startbar?
Thanks.....

Oddly enough, I have the same question. I tried changing the hotspot action associated with the NextStart Taskbar's start button to display the Windows Start button, and, depending on where you clicked the start button, the Windows Start menu would appear in slightly different locations.

I found a workaround for this. If you press the windows key, it starts the startmenu in the location that it is assigned to in windows by default. You may need to tweak the windows taskbar height to accomodate the nextstart startbar height.
I simulated a windows keypress by writting a small vbscript and assigned the start button hotspot to run that.

Since you guys showed such an interest on this, I changed the code so that the Windows Start Menu always pops up at a fixed location above the Start Button when you associate the later to the 'Show Start Menu' internal command.

To make things easier for new users, I also added 'Associate to Windows Start Menu' and 'Associate to NextSTART Menu' options to the right click context menu of the Start button.

In your case, however, these options will only appear if there is a hotspot defined to run the 'Show Start Menu' internal command (which is now created by default when NextSTART first runs).

Awesome, thanks. I have been modifying the Aero Sky skin to look like Vista. I am calling it Aero7. So far, i have only modded the startbar and startbutton but, already it looks great. I have had a few people already asking me how i liked the beta of Windows 7!
With these start menu improvements, the mod will look even better......
