First off big round of applause for 8.11. Runs great on Vista. Couple of things. How do I get nextstart to use my newly organinzed start menu I did with the new organizer? Secondly I was watching the 8.11 video and I saw you can switch between nextstart and Vista's start menu from what looks like a right click on the start button but I only have the standard windows menu of open/explore/search/etc. when I do that. I'm lost.

Thanks! :D

The Start Menu Organizer re-organizes not the root of your Start Menu but rather the Programs menu. When you open the main NextSTART menu and then the Programs sub-menu, the later will automatically display program groups the way you organized them via the Start Menu Organizer.

To re-organize the main NextSTART menu, either do so via drag & drop (don't forget you need to press SHIFT or CTRL when dragging) or via the built-in Menu Editor.

As for making the Start Button switch between displaying the NextSTART menu and the Windows Start Menu: this assumes you install a clean installation of Xtreme 8.11, as this option depends on one of the hotspots that are created by default in 8.11.

To make this option appear, go to the Hotspots Manager tab in NextSTART Preferences, create a new hotspot and associate it to the 'Show Start Menu' internal command. Press Ok to close Preferences and save the new hotspot.

The switching option should now appear when you right click on the Start Button.

The Start Menu Organizer is a great step forward in the customization of NextStart. I find it has cut back the endless clicking to drill down to what you want. It's a great time and effort saver, Jorge.
Thanks for this great software which really complements NextStart!
:D

Did you reboot after installation?

Reboot after installing Winstep or Reboot after setting up my Menus? I'll reboot now just to cover that later. The former has been covered many times.

reboot didn't change anything. Programs still shows my program menu not the re-organized one.

Try uninstalling the Program Organizer then run ccleaner. Before doing that, delete any copies of the Organizer program you have. Reboot then
do a fresh download and reinstall the organizer and reboot. Then try to use it.

Full uninstall/re-intsall with removing all configs didn't fix things. What I did notice is I see not only the new Organizer created start menu items but the rest of my menu items as well. So I see everything not just the new organizer created menus. I checked my start menu settings in XP and I turned on the classic start button and made sure personalized menus was enabled, not sure if this matters or not. It had no effect.

I can't fathom what's wrong...you'd better ask Jorge. If you removed everything, how could formerly created menus still exist? You're clearly not removing everything.

I have NOT recatagorized all of my installed programs, only the ones I care about or use frequently. I was under the assumption that this would create a whole new startup menu and hide my old one. So if I didn't re-categorize something, it would be hidden. Is this not correct?

No...skinned. Your skin is applied in NexStart and Workshelf and Nexus, correct?....and then in the Start Ment you have your categories and the unclassified ones....that is the way you created it. Perhaps if you do a screen shot I could see what it is you're seeing as well.

Sorry for only butting in now. :D

Nope, your assumption is not correct. The Organizer does not create a 'special/alternative' NextSTART Programs menu, it simply re-organizes your Windows Start Menu according to your specifications. Un-categorized items remain just that - uncategorized, but visible none the less (you can always delete uncategorized items in the Organizer, but then how will you launch those rarelly accessed items when you need them?)

The Programs sub-menu in NextSTART retrieves its content 'on-the-fly' from the actual Windows Start Menu, so what you see when you open 'All Programs' from the Windows Start Menu is exactly what you will see when you open the 'Programs' sub-menu in NextSTART.

What you seem to want can be accomplished by replacing the special 'Programs' menu in NextSTART with 'regular' menus created via the built in Menu Editor or through right click/insert plus drag & drop - this way only what you put in those menus will show up.

If you do this, though, be aware that the content of these regular menus will not change to integrate newly installed applications, which is why instead of replacing the 'Programs' sub-menu, I would rather add another entry under it pointing to a 'Compact Programs' sub-menu instead.

Hope this makes sense, it's too early in the morning here.

Issues solved. I misunderstood how the organizer worked. I stuck all my installed items under a category and all I have now are the main categories.
