Hi guys i downloaded the demo of winstep 8.11 and i'm having a problem with the thumbnails (see below) i was wondering what was wrong, this didnt happen when i have tried older versions of winstep. thanks in advance.

Ah! It is very important indeed.

The thumbnails in Vista (unlike those under XP or older Winstep versions) are actual 'live' snapshots of the real windows. Those snapshots are provided by the Vista DWM (Desktop Windows Manager) which is turned off in the Home Basic version of Vista.

I was going to say this was the probable cause, but I just simulated running with the DWM disabled in Vista and WSX used the old static snapshot method it uses in XP without any problems, as it was designed to do.

So, does this happen with all the window thumbnails (keep in mind elevated windows will never return a snapshot)?

What about the Tasks shelf in WorkShelf? Do you get window thumbnails there?

It happens on all the thumbnails yeah and no, not even on workshelf
