Cannot launch winamp from Nexus

There is nothing wrong with it at first sight.

Hmmm... On a hunch, judging by the size of the letters in that screenshot, you seem to be running with large fonts (high DPI) enabled. Could you try setting the screen DPI to normal (100%) and see if that fixes the problem? You can do that from the Display applet in the Control Panel.

I know at first sight this should have nothing to do with it, but bear with me please. If it works I'll tell you that joke about the broken car, the mechanic, the electrical engineer, and the IT guy.

Another brilliant suggestion, did not work.

I´m a simple computer user, but since 1981. This is really above my head.
It works perfectly on my other laptop, Win 7 Home Premium 64X :?:

Have you tried setting the 'Run as Administrator' checkbox already? Also, another thing I just noticed (amazingly, I didn't notice it yesterday) is that the dialog is in Portuguese. Are you Portuguese or Brazilian?

I run everything as admin. I know, I know...with careful surfing.

Try Googling for 'gen_ff.dll error', I get quite a lot of entries for that.

I did some testing: apparently Winamp´s modern skins are incompatible with Nexus,(or is it vice-versa ?), at least on my machine.

Strange because it works perfectly on my other machine.(Win 7 64x)
I will keep Nexus as it is a great software & launch Winamp from the Quick Start with my semi-transparent skins.

Before you give up, I'd try another solution.

This time it's up to you to decide if it's worth accepting this solution or not because what I'm offering you is an application, and usually people don't trust applications as solutions.
I've built an exe that accepts a string as argument and will call the os "execute" command, so it'll actually run the argument. The argument must be a valid executable file path, if invalid it should just exit (or it might give an error message then exit). Actually, the source code of this software (made with AutoPlay Media Studio

is only this:

Extract it somewhere - as long as it's winamp related, you can extract it in the winamp directory as well (it won't interfere with the winamp files), but it works fine from everywhere (doesn't need any administrator rights, it'll run "as invoker").

Then to use it create a new shortcut in Nexus like this:
Item type: Program
Label: RunWinamp (this is the shortcut name, put anything you want)
Filename: the Path to the RunWinamp.exe file
_example: "C:\Program Files\RunWinamp\RunWinamp.exe"
Arguments: the path to the Winamp.exe file
_example: "C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe"
(anything else you can leave blank/default value)

If your antivirus finds this as a virus, it's false positive (I've had some troubles too with AVG and Kaspersky). The program will not try to access internet in any way, so your firewall might only warn you to confirm access permission to the Program Files folder which should be a protected windows folder. Though, I'm using Avira premium suite and both firewall and antivirus don't alert when running this program.
Anyway, as I said before, if you don't trust this program don't even download it.

Thanks a lot for your offer.
I have some news:
I´m the only user of my machine.All my programs are/were installed & run as admin, with no other account.
Today I changed this acccount to "standard" & set a new account as "admin".
I installed Nexus on this account too & I´m able to launch Winamp from that account !

On the other hand on the other account, ex "admin, now "standard", I have two more programs that were working fine that are not launching anymore, "can´t initialize database", "an error occured with the aplication" (GameBooster).

They both launch correctly with the admin account ! I tried to modify permissions & priviledges, without success.

Any hint ? :?:
